JarBlue.jpg (12502 bytes) UMF Active Manuka Honey .Com is excited to be the exclusive International Importers of Natura Primes' UMF® Active Manuka Honey from New Zealand. The highest rated UMF® Manuka honey available, with a Superior UMF® rating of 16.

UMF® Active Manuka Honey is the type of manuka honey which has the unique naturally occurring antibacterial property known as UMF®, an antibacterial property not found in any other honey (including most manuka honey). This special property is effective against most bacteria including the very resistant helicobacter pylori(the bacteria which causes most stomach ulcers) and staphylococcus aureus. Research has shown the UMF® property also makes UMF Active Manuka Honey very effective for stomach ulcers and gastritis and for topical use such as skin ulcers, wounds, burns, sore throats, acne, eczema and cracked skin.

If you have any questions feel free to thumb through the research articles from Waikato University on the benefits of honey as a healer, and if there is anything we missed, feel free to drop us a line.
Dr Peter Molan MBE, Associate Professor in Biochemistry at The University of Waikato New Zealand, has since 1981 researched into the ancient healing properties of honey. He has shown scientifically that most honeys have varying degrees of healing properties due to a naturally occurring hydrogen peroxide agent. He found that when honey comes into contact with body moisture the glucose oxidase enzyme introduced to the honey by the bee, slowly releases the antiseptic hydrogen peroxide. This is released at sufficient levels to be effective against bacteria but not tissue damaging. University research confirms honey as a healer
A Second natural antibacterial agent More recently Dr Molan and his research team found in some (but not all) manuka honeys a second natural, antibacterial component. This non-peroxide or UMF® component in UMF® Active Manuka Honey is effective against notoriously resistant bacteria such as super bug staphylococcus aureus and helicobacter pylori. It is resistant to heat and more resistant to being broken down by the catalase effect of body fluids than the hydrogen peroxide activity. The reseachers have not found any bacteria resistant to the UMF® activity. Yet amazingly the good bacteria in the stomach are not eliminated.
The special UMF® antibacterial property is not found in all manuka honey but in only a small percentage of manuka honeys. The presence of this property can be detected only by laboratory testing. The UMF® rating indicates the antibacterial strength of the honey. Manuka Honey with a UMF® level of 10 or more is endorsed by the Honey Research Unit at the University of Waikato as having special uses especially in treating stomach ulcers, skin ulcers, wounds, burns, infections. The higher the UMF® rating, the greater the antibacterial potency of the honey. NaturaPrimes UMF® Active Manuka Honey has a superior UMF® level of 16. Manuka Honey Flower
Stomach ulcers In laboratory tests the UMF® antibacterial property in UMF® Active Manuka Honey inhibits the growth of helicobacter pylori. Helicobacter pylori is the bacteria which causes most stomach ulcers. The peroxide antibacterial activity of other honeys (including ordinary manuka honey) is not effective against this bacteria.

In clinical trials patients taking UMF® Active Manuka Honey all experienced considerable relief from their stomach ulcer symptoms. However, this short preliminary trial could not determine if the honey eliminated the bacteria.

Anecdotal testimonies from people who have used UMF® rated Active Manuka Honey for stomach ulcers have been very positive. They had a generous spreading (about 1 tablespoon) of UMF® Active Manuka Honey on bread or toast one hour before meals and again at bedtime. The bread was to ensure that the honey stayed in the stomach for a longer period. Some adjusted the frequency to suit their needs. A little discomfort was experienced by one or two for a short period.
(staphylococcus aureus or pseudomonas aeruginosa)

Ulcers that were not responding to conventional treatment cleared up when treated with UMF® Active Manuka Honey. The honey was applied generously to the affected area (about 1 tablespoon to a 5cm wound) and covered well. The dressing was changed at least once a day.

Clinical Trials. Excellent results were found in recent clinical trials (1999) at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, New Zealand when UMF® Active Manuka Honey was used on previously unresponsive skin ulcers and wounds.

Cuts, burns, wounds, acne, abscesses, eczema (especially atopic eczema),

cracked skin and eye infections The research team have found UMF® Active Manuka Honey to be very effective for topical use such as on burns, wounds, acne, eczema, and abscesses, the list keeps growing. The UMF® property of UMF® Active Manuka Honey is more stable than the peroxide property of other honeys when exposed to the serum released by wounds. Not only is Natura Primes' UMF® rated Active Manuka Honey antibacterial, but it nourishes and promotes tissue regrowth. Its osmotic effect draws a thin film of moisture to the surface creating a barrier between wound and dressing allowing easy removal without damaging regrowing tissue. The healing is more rapid and there is minimal scarring.

The reseachers have also found the UMF® antibacterial property will pentrate the pores of unbroken skin to deal with problems below the skin surface. The peroxide antibacterial property will not penetrate the pores of the skin. This makes UMF® Active Manuka Honey possibly very effective in treating boils etc.

The researchers are now considering the very real possibility of UMF® Active Manuka Honey as a systemic healer. They are considering the value of applying UMF® Active Manuka Honey to the wound externally, and eating UMF® Active Manuka Honey to help the body fight the problem from the inside.

Research in its early stages has found that New Zealand honeys have useful levels of antioxidants with UMF® Active Manuka Honey having the highest of all. UMF Active Manuka Honey stimulates the immune system helping the body deal with infections.

Research is showing the UMF® property is effective against streptococcus pyogenes (causes sore throats). When the first feeling of a cold comes on try a teaspoon of UMF Active Manuka Honey from time to time throughout the day.

Research has shown that UMF® Active Manuka Honey also promotes the rehydration of the body causing the earlier clearing of diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach upsets.

Honey effective against MRSA The antibacterial properties of UMF® Active Manuka Honey are effective in the laboratory against MRSA(staphylococcus aureus) strains of bacteria which are notoriously resistant to antibiotics and are sometimes responsible for the closing of hospital wards. Current trials are now investigating the effectiveness of UMF® Active Manuka Honey on MRSA cases.
For duodenal and stomach ulcer relief: Try taking a generous spreading (about one tablespoon) of UMF® Active Manuka Honey on a slice of bread one hour before meals and with no fluids and again at bedtime. The bread is to ensure that the honey stays in the stomach for a longer period. Frequency and amount may be adjusted at your discretion. Research is being conducted to determine a more accurate dosage. Some people reported they had good results when they had the honey straight from the spoon.

For external use: Clean the wound. Then apply UMF® rated Active Manuka Honey generously to the affected area (about 1 tablespoon to a 5cm wound). Cover. Change at least once a day.

For sore throats and colds: When the first feeling of a cold comes on try taking a teaspoon of UMF® Active Manuka Honey from time to time throughout the day.

Caution: Do not cease regular medication without doctor's consent. Diabetics use discretion if taking honey orally. Stop usage if you get a bad reaction.
How to use UMF active Mauka Honey

We are always happy when people find relief using UMF Manuka honey.
Below is a wonderful letter from one of our customers.

Dear UMF Active Manuka Honey.Com,

My Sister-in-law had 2 abdominal surgeries ( one life threatening ) . As a result of these, where she had stitches her skin would not heal. The Doctors and the Nurses tried everything they could, and nothing worked. She had 5-6 open wounds in her belly. And she was feeling pretty sick too.

Her Doctor told her that she got infected with MRSA bacteria and there isn't much they can do. The pills that would cost over a thousand dollars, she couldn't take because of her other health problems. She asked us to look up MRSA on the Internet and so we did.

When I read about the Manuka honey, I ordered some the same day. She would put the honey on her wounds and change the dressing every day. She would also have some manuka honey on some bread once a day. She started noticing the difference the next day. In 3 weeks, everything had healed.

Every day she thanks God for Manuka honey and she is grateful to you guys for bringing it to the US. Now her friend is going to take it for stomach problems. And we will try it for other health problems. We will let you know how it is going.

Sincerely,

Jolanta & John S, FL
